Operating the ROCK Pilot App

Operating the ROCK Pilot App with R3 Pro

Welcome to your guide on utilizing the ROCK Pilot App in conjunction with the R3 Pro. This lesson will take you through a step-by-step process, ensuring you efficiently navigate and execute your LiDAR missions.

*Before you begin, you must install the ROCK Pilot App.
Please follow these steps to begin installation:

1. Register your R3 Pro to your ROCK Cloud Account.
2. Download the .apk file from your ROCK Cloud Account.
3. Transfer the .apk file to a Micro-SD card.
4. Insert the Micro-SD card into the DJI M300/M350 smart controller.
5. Open the file explorer application and double click the .apk file to install onto your smart controller.

1. Open ROCK Pilot App:

Launch the app and create a new mission or select an existing mission. I selected an existing mission.

2. Connect to Device:

Ensure the app is connecting to the R3 Pro, indicated by a status change in the top left corner.

3. Open Mission Plan:

While the R3 Pro is starting, open and review the mission plan.

4. Save Mission Plan:

After reviewing, I saved the mission plan.

5. Monitor Satellite Synchronization:

Observe the status change to "synchronizing satellite signal" with the number of satellites (e.g., 26) displayed.

6. Adjust General Settings:

Access the general settings of the ROCK Pilot app by clicking the three dots at the top right and navigate through various screens.

7. RTK Settings:

In the RTK section, be sure to set up your RTK connection.

*NOTE: IF YOU WANT THE APP TO CONTROL FLIGHT BE SURE TO ENABLE FLIGHT CONTROL UNDER THE THREE DOTS. IF YOU JUST WANT TO USE THE APP TO MONITOR THE LIDAR, THEN LEAVE FLIGHT CONTROL DISABLED.

8. LiDAR Settings:

After the R3 Pro completes connecting you can view the LiDAR settings. I just close the menu and re-open after R3Pro completes it’s connection to view the LiDAR settings.

9. Start Mission:

Initiate the mission by pressing the "Start Mission" button.

10. Observe Static Alignment:

Watch for the GNSS and IMU indicators turning green at the top right, signaling data collection.

11. Launch Drone:

Upload the flight plan and start the drone.

12. Monitor Flight Metrics:

Continuously check LiDAR status, battery level (e.g., 76%), RTK connection, and USB drive space.

13. Handle High Wind Velocity:

Be aware of any high wind velocity warnings and adjust as needed.

14. Automatic Calibration Flight:

Let the drone conduct a calibration flight in the designated area.

15. Complete Mission:

Allow the drone to finish its mission and return.

16. Land and Shutdown:

Stop the data collection and follow the shutdown process in the app. After landing, you want to wait for about 15 seconds, then turn off data collection and power down the R3 Pro.

*Note: At any time in the flight you can click the Pause button on your remote and manually control the drone. Once you hit the pause button, then a Resume flight play button will appear on the right side of the screen. Click to resume.
